I understand the two biggest to be Cargill and Archer-Daniels-Midlands, you're just going to love the latter's wiki entry

Oh yes, ADM, Nestle, Cargil and Kraft. Hmm, that's four. Not sure which of them is the third and which the fourth biggest.
Monsanto is big but perhaps not one of the biggest food companies as most of their product is not at all good to eat. (Some might argue that applies to the others as well :) )
