Most of our Norwesterlies in thge Eastern part of the country are foehn winds.

When my old shed was dismantled the poor builder discovered the dessicated remains of two foxes underneath. That was pretty gruesome, especially as he insisted on showing them to me.

Well, Jack, they might be called foehn winds here in Dunedin, but they sure don't often feel like it!! Not often you get a warm, let alone hot, wind here.

I remember my then 5YO son stepping off the plane in Melbourne, and being shocked by the hot wind there, saying "But...but... it's windy but it's not cold!!" He just couldn't imagine such a thing!!

We're back with the gales again today - under weather warning for severely destructive winds. Ah, the changing seasons, gotta love 'em. LOL

Magpie, they have normally lost their heat by the time they get to the coast down there but you go up Central when they are running and you will see what hot is.

I think I prefer cold winds when I can just put a woolly hat on to keep warm! :shock:

Well I normally say you can always put more clothes on but there are only so many you can take off, then you change colour.
