Itsn't white poo the poo that can cause blindness? I think it only becomes white when dogs have worms... so maybe its because worming is more common?

It's the changing diet of dogs, combined with an increading tendency to remove dog poo before it dries out.

Dogs used to be fed foods containing a lot of bone and bonemeal, which contain calcium. Doo poo is brown because of bile. Leave the poo in the sun, the bile evaporates and you're left with dessicated white poo.
