It isn't a recognised Olympic sport (but it is for Commonwealth Games and Pan-American Games). It keeps geting voted down in favour of stuff like beach volleyball. It's up for a vote again in 2016 when, amongst other sports, it's competing against wushu. As no-one has the foggiest what that is, it'll probably come first.

Wushu, anyone?

I've just looked up Wushu.. looks preferable to Squash to me.. but most things do.. ;)

Anyway, back to allotments.. I vote for tastiest strawberry, best dish prepared from allotment ingredients.. anything but "most productive", that's almost as bad as the poodle contest that the Council run for besr kept allotment (and judge at completely the wrong time of year). "Most productive" enourages quantity instead of quality/value.

I sort of agree about the allotments and most of the comments on the subject but can't help thinking that if they had their place there'd be people on other forums moaning that " These allotment growers just plant the seeds and go down the pub , leave it all to the plants and the weather and then expect a gold medal at the end of it all, what's the world coming to?"
