Fig update: Just been out to check the plant, as I noticed a few of its leaves were yellow and the bottom three fruits have 'drooped'. They're not dark brown, but they felt very soft and squishy. So, I lopped them off the tree and cut one open. There is no real smell to the flesh, but it tastes fine and is definitely ripe.
