I like Monty, he is not just a posh bloke, he is more complex than that having been a drug addict. But yes this series is in danger of becoming out of touch, such a shame because I think Monty can connect with people and transmit a real love and enthusiasm for gardening.

Seems to know his stuff, after all he's been a co-presenter on GW for years and years! Wasn't he originally a designer though? :dontknow:

Yes, he and his wife, Sarah, had a jewellery business which went a... over t... in the 80s. I like him, not as much as I liked Geoff Hamilton, who I would have willingly slept with - but I like his approach and he seems a genuine bloke. I just bought his book The Jewel Garden in a charity shop when I was back in the UK before Easter. I have another of their books, written with his wife, Fork to Fork, which is growing and cooking what they've grown.

O - I didn't know that either. I've just googled Clive Swift and yes, you can certainly see the likeness.

Actually Monty Don wasn't a drug addict (as someone stated previously), but he did do a project with offenders and drug addicts - it was a telly series and later a book. I think he suffers with depression though.
