Knife sharpening

The whole reason for the selfsufficientish website was to offer a place where anyone can ask, HOW DO I...? So who knows why it has taken us so long to have a HOW DO I? section, but here it is. So if you want to know how to do anything selfsufficientish then here is the place to ask.

Yes - very carefully, one serration at a time, with a round file or other specialist tool.

I'm of the opinion that the only knife in your kitchen that should be serrated is the bread knife, and that should never need sharpening.

Or else simply sharpen one side ONLY, and always the same side. It will work for a long time but will eventually wear out.
