I've never worn fancy dress(though Mrs OJ would suggest otherwise) and I cant stand parties either! I'm not totally anti social(though Mrs..etc..etc) I like to eat with freinds and I'll go drinking with anyone,I just hate standing around, listening to people I dont know talking about something uninteresting. There's a classic Peter Cook cartoon from the Eye years ago where two people at a party holding drinks are talking to each other:First ones saying 'I'm writing a book' second one replys: 'Neither am I'...

You could have gone for those trousers with a zip across the thigh that turns them from ordinary ones into shorts...
I'm not sure if they existed back then but in fact we actually went home and got into our shorts.....

I was thinking I had never been to a fancy dress and that I'd always managed to avoid them, but Ina mentioning kindergarten reminded me of when I was about 5 or 6 years old and we had to go to school in fancy dress for some big event. My parents sent me as a "Common Barmaid", complete with empty bottle of plonk and they thought it was hilarious. :dontknow: When I grew up I worked as a barmaid for a while. They didn't find that hilarious, they were crippled with embarrassment

Lol! I disguise myself as an average kinda human the rest of the year to lull them all into a false sense of security!

Last year I went as Fubar the fk up fairy - my OH took great delight in putting muddy foot prints on my bum!

Oh you miserable lot!

Althoguh for those concerned about looking frumpy, can I recommend avoiding skintight white satin in a dress which is hastily bought from a charity shop and is two sizes too small for you - otherwise this might happen   :

Surely the bottle is the wrong colour - shouldn't it have blood red?

If it's done in a very creative way it can look cool, but 98 % of the times it just looks bad.

I love elaborate makeup and fancy clothes (preferably if I make them myself *G*) but I loathe parties with a theme.
