Have never been so glad to be an ishy person, I haven't run out of anything yet..oh and people used to laugh at me for filling the freezer, pantry and store room  I have even turned my fridge off, my porch is colder than the fridge so its all gone out there instead of me paying for electric... am wondering if thats really tight

Aww... sorry to hear some of you are struggling and fed-up with it!

Never mind, it shouldn't be there for too much longer.

As for me. I love it. And I'm not expecting to see the back of it for another 2 months...!!!!

Seems quite balmy here with only a few inches of snow. Have to go to Rennes today 30 kms away which might be interesting. :(

Anyway having seen the temps for the West Country and a week or so back having asked my mum "Mum, that Hebe you gave me, does it resprout from the roots because all the top growth is just frosted pulp?" to which the response was "no dear, I don't think so, it doesn't do that here". I should think her Hebe is double pulp now!

I wonder if anyone has any PSB still alive as mine are nearly all just pulp now too and you lot in the UK are having far colder weather than we are! :(

No chance of getting to the allotment to inspect what is going on there - son-in-law dropped some bags of veg peelings into the normal place over the fence and said it was covered in snow but when I asked him questions he hadn't actually looked at anything. Ho hum. He had no idea if the shed and fruit trees were still there so anything more would have been too much.

I've seen a bus this morning going towards city so might actually wade over the pavement to the stop at the door later and try for the Metrocentre and see if the shuttle bus is running round to Asda.

-10ºC here today. No sign of it letting up.

Our waste pipe has frozen this morning, and E has been very ill.

I am starting to make preparations for leaving :(

Annpan, sorry to hear you are having such a rotten time. I hope you can sort things out. Must be awful having someone really ill in your situation. Best wishes :hugish:

I am relieved to be home from work for the week. Am worn out, though I know others have things much worse than we do, we both have horrid viruses. I work at about the only school I know of round here that has stayed open all week (even the one adjoining us & sharing our site has been shut all week due to weather. For us it is business as usual and even an inspection of teaching by the head and deputy yesterday afternoon.

I have not enjoyed driving this week but would take me about an hour and a half to walk, and don't trust bus to turn up, so no thankyou. My 18 yr old car freezes so hard on inside windscreens I am out early with my ice scraper inside the car, looking like a crazy woman and then again at the end of the school day before I can drive home.

Trying to get 30 pairs of wellies off, coats unzipped , then mopping the water from the corridors while trying to take the register with VERY excited children calls for reserves of patience I am running out of, so glad it's my afternoon off! We even have extra children in as kids of teachers and ex pupils have been coming in due to childcare problems because of other schools being shut. The school in my village is shut and about five others I have to pass on my way to work.

Hope the rest of you are doing ok. Take care all xx

Ooh but I just heard the postman is here, so maybe I will finally get the rest of my Christmas presents today! Yippee!

Oh that's tricky. I think I WOULD probably return them with a note ... but I frequently put my foot in it.

It's got to be better to know though hasn't it? Did you know him? I suppose it would help if you could say what happened but you might not know that. These people presumably don't keep in touch with anyone else who know him, or they would already have heard. Might be hard to just find out that someone died and not have anyone to ask about it :dontknow:

xx

I was in this situation once and after talking to my postie, simply wrote on the envelopes "Return to sender, addressee unknown". He said it was better to leave the senders wondering than to get the letter returned with "Addressee dead/deceased". And better than letting people continue to send cards for years, only to find out after some time that the addressee was dead.
