ok folks, loads of mushrooms for 50p
find yr local mushroom farm, once a week they take the bags of compost out, most charge a max of 50p per bag, take a couple home, put some damp newspaper on them in the shed for 24hrs, lift the paper and you will have a week of mad mushroom growing

I thought of doing this as well.
My thought was doing it in the wild...sort of.
buy spawn and cultivate a shady wooded area with the
proper species of partially rotted wood pieces.
then if successful, I would leave a few mushrooms
to seed/release spawn and work new rotted wood into the soil.
it'd have to be a variety that likes the Minnesota Seasons...the Morel is my first choice.

Funnily enough I discovered my Auntie has been growing mushrooms, she said she only get one meal every six months from her 'kit'. I guess a bag of compost should do a bit better though... I shall have to bypass Peterborough by a safe distance to get there I'm afraid, the que for Queens Carpark normally stretches to Sawtry this time of year!
