You forgot Acorns, supposed to be very good eating when the tanin is removed.

Paddy, acorns are best eaten as bacon butties IMHO, ie fed to the pigs as treat. (To much hassle to make 'em fit for humans otherwise.) But I'll definately give 'em an other chance...I might like this time, watered with soft Irish rain. :icon_smile:

Pinion pine is the best - they have exceptionaly large cones that you harvest then place in a sack in a warm place to dry. they open as they dry and the nuts (seeds!) fall out and are easily collected.
They are about as difficult(ish) to shell as sunflower seeds.

Yep a pain in the bum but lovely and a must for making pesto!
