this last year or so, the price of gold weight for weight has rocketed.... and by 2012 when the reserves are said to run out (think peak oil, only with gold) the price will be higher which is why all these refinery places are trying to nab your gold. my advice, hold on to it for another 2 years.

the only gold i own is either very low quality or of sentimental value. i have a gold and diamond necklace, earring and ring set from my 18th birthday which my mum saved up for a year to buy, i'd never part with it.

everything else i own is silver because i have a nickel allergy, and 9ct gold etc has quite a high proportion of nickel in it, giving me "skeezy finger".

I have a gold crown in my purse. It came out when I ate.... no, not a toffee, a SMARTIE. As if I wasn't feeling bad enough from the shame of breaking my NestIe boycott (ONE Smartie) but my flipping gold bit came out. It's happened so many times I'm thinking of telling the dentist to just take the flipping tooth out. Like Milims, I have also swallowed one in the past. I saw it down the loo grinning up at me, but I couldn't bring myself to retrieve it and it stayed there until we managed to flush it away. On other occasions, I've taken them back to the dentist. Sometimes they've been refitted, other times the dentist has ordered a new one and kept the old one. This time when it came out I said I'm going to post it off, but I was only joking. I didn't realise it was ACCEPTABLE  How much do you think I'd get? 10p? 20p? 25p?

Twas me not Milims and I'd have retrieved the crown from the loo! I pood in a plastic bag for 4 days  and squidged my way through it :pukeright: looking for my crown! I was going to wash it and get the dentist to stick it back on!  I reckon it's still stuck in my intestines.

Bloody thing cost me 1,000 swiss francs which was about £400 for a new one! :angryfire:

What I find slightly dubious is that they say if you change your mind they'll return your loot. There must be a point in time where it's been melted down tho, surely?

they have to say that for legal reasons, and the cut off point is 14 days from when you sent it to them, not 14 days from when they recieve it. it's the same for any distance shopping.

My great-grandfather went to the goldfields in WA, took a claim at Boulder as Kalgoorlie was swamped with miners, found no alluvial gold, sold the claim and gave up. A couple of years later, they found the deep gold reefs—at Boulder!

Funnily enough, he was actually the second person in my family that this happened to. The other one had a claim, didn't find anything down his shaft, sold up and the new miner broke through to a rich vein only a few months later.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

That's a proper Aussie thing to happen.

As a jeweller I can say DO NOT send your jewellery off to these companies!!!

Gold is NOT at an all time high at all, do you think they would be buying it if it was? Doesn't make sense to buy gold when it's at an all time high does it?

They are vastly undervaluing items and ripping people off and I have no idea how these adverts are getting past the trades descriptions of false advertising companies as they are utter nonsense.

There was one case of a gentleman who had his stuff valued properly and it was worth just over £1000 but these so called companies on the TV told him a mere £150

It's a SCAM and a RIP OFF and you should avoid it like the plague!

Well, bugger me! (figuratively speaking of course)

Low and behold, last night on TV and add for people trying to get their hands on my (non-existant) gold! How cheeky is that?
