Oh thank you for the supportive words, ladies.
Nya has now done a WHOLE WEEK without crying! At all! It's really very weird. I suppose it must have been that indefinable thing they call colic. It's like someone just flicked a switch last Sunday and it all stopped. She has been lovely all week. A joy. And now I feel awful for some of the terrible things I said when she wouldn't stop screaming
I didn't mean any of it, I was just very stressed! I'm continuing to do her massage every day as she seems to really enjoy it. She is still a bit jumpy so I try to do lots of calming things for her. She likes to be held very securely and made to feel very safe and calm, and we also now switch the fairy lights on at bedtime (we put them all around the front room last Christmas and decided to leave them there!) and we put 'Chill' on on Sky TV (some random digital radio station) while she has her milk. She likes the gentle music, which normally has quite a steady beat to it, and I think she also likes the blue screen.
Thankfully my toddler, Scarlett, has been extremely patient throughout this whole episode. For 2 years old and a former only-child I think she has done very well. I really do thank God/Allah/Buddah/Mother Nature/whoever is in charge that she is such a good little girl. There have been times when I have spent 40 minutes in the bedroom trying to calm Nya and poor old Scarlett has had to entertain herself for all that time. At the risk of a chastising from the parenting mafia, I admit that I would sit her down in front of CBeebies with a Farley's rusk. I would like to thank Mr. Tumble, Mr Maker, Upsy Daisy, etc...
So now that Nya is a normal baby she is starting to concentrate on the more important things in life. This week she has mastered rolling over onto her tummy, and she is just starting to try to pick things up and put them in her mouth. She usually misses, but I'm sure she'll keep practicing. We might even prepare ourselves for a big mess and try baby-led weaning
It's like I have a different baby.
Good luck with the long hours, Sunflower! I have found one benefit to Mr Grubby working a lot: I don't have time to get sick of him being around the house and messing up my routine with the children/leaving dirty socks on the carpet, etc.
I hope your scan went well. xxx
