Also confused with cape gooseberries ( cape cherries) and gooseberries - the green hairless kind that have spiny bushes
over here kiwi fruits are different to goosberries.

these are gooseberries over in england.
On the telly t'other night Valentine warner a new chef that looks like a young back to the future doctor made a goosberry sweet. cook some gooseberries with sugar and water til slft but still most in shape. Add two egg yolks and mix in. Use the egg whites and icing sugar to make a merangue then put the goosberry mix in an ovenproof bowl top with the merangue mix and bake for 20 mins in a medium oven...

It was in a glass bowl not a pastry case. In my neck of the woods a lemon (or goosberry) merengue comes in a pastry base but all said and done it looked lush,lol.

Good idea - pastry is usually only good for holding the stuff together!

Ah I totally missed the pastry bit but I don't know why as I'm such a pastry freak- Ina it's good for holding stuff toether AND eating til you feel thoroughly sick
Oh no I can feel a pie coming on now you've said pastry....
