Ahhh we used to call it black and white rabbit... goodness knows why.

16 - Queenie Queenie who's got the ball??
17 - What time is it Mr Wolf?!
We also called bobby knocking 'knock around ginger', when I was very young, the bobby knocking name only seems to have come later :?
Fickle kids

Our version of the Hide&Seek/Get Back to Base game was called Rin Tin Tin - it was started off with the person who was 'it' throwing a tin can and during the time they retrieved it everyone had to hide. They returned to base and started the count. At the end of count shouted, Rin Tin Tin coming ready or not - the tin was then left on the base (eg. tree stump, rec. equipment) and the 'it' went to find everyone else. If a person got back to the base uncaught they picked up the tin and shouted 'Rin Tin Tin - In' whilst banging it on the base - conversely, if spotted a race would ensue for the tin and if the 'in' won, they banged the tin and cried 'Rin Tin Tin - Out'. The first person caught was 'it' for the next game.

A truly excellent game played with 10-20 kids of assorted sizes and speeds. Great fun.

Does anyone know why we stop playing games - it sounds great fun now.

Your 'Rin Tin Tin' didn't sound quite right, Wooly, but has reminded me what we called it - Bomb-bomb. Instead of shouting 'Rin Tin Tin - In' when we got back to base, our version was to shout "Bomb-bomb (name of 'It') 1-2-3" eg. "Bomb-bomb Michael 1-2-3".

Still can't think what the leap-frog thing was called.

Why do we stop playing games? Dunno, but I actually went to a games-for-grownups weekend a few years ago. It was the best fun I've had in ages.

Does anyone remember the game that involved putting a tennis ball into the toe end of a pair of tights/stocking? I think you then had to stand with your back to the wall and hit the ball against the wall while saying a rhyme, the OH thought Id gone bonkers when I asked him if he remembered his sister playing it! Surely someone else can remember?

that was a brilliant game to play - especially when your mates couldn't come out to play. In fact any of the ball games against the wall were great.
