You get them in ordinary sizes now, too - and in various shapes. The original longer ones are still the cheapest, though - Lidl has them quite cheap, too (not quite as cheap as 99p). I haven't used any other lamps now for at least 10 years - still have some that I brought with me from Germany 8 years ago.

Weve got them all over the house. I think we started buying them when we 'saw an article on blue peter years ago which said how much difference having just one in every house would make to the energy consumption of the country. IKEA do them quite cheaply.

Weve got those all over the house too, the ones in the twins room are really slow to light up (and really annoy them too!) and in fact one of them has stopped working and its only been up about 6 months and of course i didnt keep the box
I did buy some off ebay for really cheap and I find that the higher watt ones are a bit better for lighting up quicker so go for the equivalent of 100watts for brighter light!

We find that when they are getting slow to start up,they are on the way out and just swap them to somewhere it doesnt matter so much like the store cupboard..
We buy all ours at IKEA and they do last ages but had some free ones from powergen a little while ago. We bought one from poundland a while back and it broke off in the light socket so wont bother with them in future.

Replaced all the bulbs in my house with these a couple of months ago,
was a special at B&Q got 8 for 6 quid or something around that, they
worked out at well under a quid each anyways.
Got used to the slow warm up time quickly dosent bother me anymore.
I am quite happy to sacrifice instant light for the sweet view of my
electricity meter nearly grinding to a halt :)

We generally get all ours from Ikea to - although the other day in Homebase we saw some reduced spot light jobs - normally £10, reduced to £3 - they fit in those posh "modern" lights - so we got some of them... when I say some, I actually mean, we bought the shop out of them!!!

Morrisons have a buy one get one free on low energy light bulbs at the moment- £1.99 FOR 2!
I've stocked up, probably enough light bulbs now 'til the boys leave home!

lol Deb we went to morrisons yesterday and David started to load up the shopping trolley with these bulbs (thought they were 99p each and buy one get one free - must check receipt) - til I spotted that the offer runs til August! YAY.
How do you all dispose of your energy efficient lightbulbs then? I heard tell that they contain mercury.

They cost a hell of a lot more money here!
Isn't it funny, in the UK you pay an absolute fortune for a water butt but you get LL light bulbs mega cheap..... now I know what to add to the shopping list for next month, along with the baked beans etc.
