Re: Getting to know you... part 3...
Hope no-one minds me adding to this, I've been off the board for a while, and it's been nice to read through your answers, and since I plan to be about a bit more for the next couple of months, I thought I'd get stuck in
What nickname did you have as a kid? Gadget on my dad's side of the family, Bridey on my mum's... no particular reason other than they are more easily pronounced than Brijit, especially for children
What did you want to be when you were "all growed up"? A hairdresser. Now my sister is one!
What do you do for work now? I'm a stoodent for the next 96 hours. Then I'll doss for a couple of months before I start au pairing.
Who introduced you to Selfsufficientish thinking? Mum I guess, she has always encouraged re-using things, mending things, although she also got me addicted to topshop and hair straighteners, so I guess she's not that wholesome an influence!
What was the first thing you ever planted? A lettuce in a biology class at primary school.
What was the first food you ever caught to eat? Strawberries in my Grandmère's garden. They roll about alot if you drop them.
What was the first thing you ever dismantled? A computer tower, couldn't resist once I realised how straightforward it was!
What is under your bed? Nothing, to my knowledge. Maybe a few origami flowers.
What is on your mouse pad? I have a laptop with a silly touch-mouse thing that my thumb brushes when I type and makes things go all screwy.
What scares you? Birds. I plan to get over it one day.
What gave you your last big belly-laugh? A picture my little brother emailed me of a cat looking silly. I was in the uni library at the time, didn't go down all that well.
What is the first thing you see when you walk out your back door? I only have a side-door at the moment.
What did you eat for tea last night? I didn't. I was in the library all night.
What charity/ies do you support? I don't at the moment, no money at all!
What is your least favourite chore/job around the house? All of it. My flatmate does nothing.
If you were to be banished to an island for 2 years, and could take one person with you, Who would you take and why?
Right now, I can't help but think : no-one. Sounds like bliss. But I would miss my family sorely after an hour or two.
What was the last CD that you bought? Street Nation I am so damn cool.
What was the last gift you were given that you really didn't want? And what did you do with it? All donations are gratefully received!
What is the most annoying thing you do (according to your mate/mum/kid/neighbour etc.)? I am perfect in every way. Honest.

Hi there Brij - good to see you back!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Re: Getting to know you... part 3...
I love these things......gives me a good excuse to skip the washing up.....!
What nickname did you have as a kid?
ET - because that was my initials, and Emmy-Lou-La because my middle name is Louise
What did you want to be when you were "all growed up"?
Oh loads of things. Most memorably I wanted to work in a sweet shop. At the moment I work in an off license so not far off!
What do you do for work now?
I'm temping at an off license (who always take me back when I need a job, bless 'em)
Who introduced you to Selfsufficientish thinking?
Nobody really, I changed my 'green' ethic over the course of a weekend at Glastonbury and was completely converted by the time I returned. It just grew from there really. It's Not Easy Being Green gave me loads of inspiration.
What was the first thing you ever planted?
When I was a child I used to grow loads of ornamental gourds and they took over our garden and the neighbours. As an adult, I think it was basil.
What was the first food you ever caught to eat?
I've never 'caught' anything as I've been veggie since 11 but the first thing I picked to eat was peas. My dad kept pretending he was finding caterpillars in the pods to scare me!
What was the first thing you ever dismantled?
Er I don't know. I don't think I've ever dismantled anything, I'm fairly certain it would end badly for me and the item.
What is under your bed?
Some of my parents paperwork, and some junk that I brought back from travelling and haven't really unpacked yet. There's a goat horn in there somewhere!
What is on your mouse pad?
I don't have one.
What scares you?
Spiders although I'm working on that one and getting heaps better. What seriously scares me is that I'll be stuck where I am for the rest of my life! *shudders*
What gave you your last big belly-laugh?
A joke on Scrubs.
What is the first thing you see when you walk out your back door?
Various plants in pots.
What did you eat for tea last night?
Pasta with pesto.
What charity/ies do you support?
At the moment I'm saving my pennies! However whenever possible I support Greenpeace and animal charities.
What is your least favourite chore/job around the house?
Washing up. The sink is too high for me and it makes my shoulder muscles bunch up and feel really tense!
If you were to be banished to an island for 2 years, and could take one person with you, Who would you take and why?
Definitely my husband. He can keep me entertained for hours on end, and would keep me motivated to find food and have loads of fun and laughter as well!
What was the last CD that you bought?
Rodrigo y Gabriela. In fact I like them so much I bought all three CD's of theirs in one go.
What was the last gift you were given that you really didn't want? And what did you do with it?
Actually last Christmas we explained to everyone we didn't want to give/receive presents so I haven't been given anything I didn't want for ages! Mainly I hate getting those little books that you look at once then they take up space, e.g. the little book of calm!
What is the most annoying thing you do (according to your mate/mum/kid/neighbour etc.)?
I can't convey my thoughts properly! I just witter a lot and never make sense.
What is your favourite drink?
At the moment, ginger beer. So I'm currently researching getting a ginger beer plant!
Where is your favourite place in the whole wide world?
I couldn't pick one. I love so many different places for many different reasons. But the common factor in all the places is closeness to nature, clean air, clean water, like minded people and sunshine.
