sorry to hear you had worries about the chocks.

I am finding them very chilled out, I thought they where meant to be stressed and flustered for a few days, these girls are acting has if they have been here for ages. My OH also thinks so, and she has kept chickens before.

and I had no idea that they shat to much!, the bottom box I moved them in was covered !!
there was no sign of reddish droppings in the box so it must have been the last few poos.
I am shocked I found a webpage of poo so interesting!

they where from these people www.deanbank.org.uk , it is a nice setup, they also do poultry courses for people new to keeping poultry, so they are not a "thanks for the money, bye" sort of setup. they buy in chicks and raise them, these ones are 17 weeks old, and cost £10 each (which I think is reasonable)

Mine are the same, they act as if they have been here for ever - They were talk to me and ask for food and are quite content in their wee house.

Glad to hear you didn't have the same problem with any of your girls, it must have just been 1 dodgy poo, but being a chicken keeping virgin it was a bit hairy.

I'm glad your girls are all settled in and happy. I was surprised at how much they pooed when I first got mine. Changed my mind once I'd got the ducks though - you should see how much they do - and the noise when they do those great squits, it's hysterically funny (I have a toilet sense of humour)! It is quite amazing the different variety of excrement that can come out of the same creature's bottom. Funny thing is, I swear I could smell chicken poo as I was looking at that website. Amazing this these computers

I never name my birds either, except that the bantams are now Mr and Mrs. I do ascribe a range of names in case children visit. They seem to think it's vital that they have names so I have a number of names handy just in case. But just hand them out at random
