If there's one thing I sure don't miss about the UK, it's the fussy endless planning regulations.

In France - and here in Sweden - you can more or less do what you like with a property. (You need a few basic outline permissions and there are one or two strange quirks, but not all this fussy inspections stuff and approved fitters etc... yuk! Nightmare! It seems to be peculiar to the UK....).
