Turnips, which seem to be fine with the gentle frosts so far (that is rutabaga in America and Swede in England)
Just to nit-pick but the Turnip is a different plant to the Swede and rutabaga. But then again the rutabaga is also known as the yellow Turnip.
The Turnip is quicker growing, usually smaller, white fleshed and not as hardy as the Swede/Rutabaga. My partner is from St Albans and won't go near the Swedes (maybe its a northern thing), but I love them mashed with salt & pepper.
Anyways, in my garden at the moment:
Garlic (for next year)
Sprouts (I keep pinching some although I am trying to keep them for mid winter).
Purple sprouting broc for the spring - looking good so far.
Spring Cabbage
Savoy Cabbage
Leeks (some are pretty big but starting to bolt)
Celeriac
Swede
Fennel (invented a Fennel, Celery and smoked salmon soup last night - went down a treat)
In the greenhouse:
Pak Choy (getting a bit chewed up now with the slugs and caterpillars)
Mixed salad leaves
Rocket
Dill
Lemon Grass
I aim to sow Rocket, Coriander and some more oriental greens if I get the time this weekend.
