here here. i think the connection to halal and kosher slaughter is a bit of a leap of the imagination... both halal and kosher are prepared in this way as it is meant to be one of the cleanest and healthiest ways for meat to be slaughtered for human consumption. I don't eat meat but I don't believe that everyone should be vegetarian or vegan and I also think people are entitled to eat meat slaughtered in whichever way they see as ethical, it is the ignorance of not caring at all how meat is slaughtered that becomes a problem!

So you're saying, if I posted on here with a problem of having something killing my chickens or rabbits, by decapitating them and the blood draining out, you would all say it was a Satanic cult doing it? Not weasels, stoats or ferrets? Have you ever seen the remains of animals being slaughtered by these little animals? Maybe this isn't the site for me to find reliable information any more...

Magpie I totally agree with you only I'm voting for the Stone Marten! Unfortunately one of them decided to use our garage for his/her larder which consisted of headless baby hare bodies.*

I've also just recently been staying with my mum in England where we found a decapitated baby bunny in her garden and the culprit was the cat next door!

Magpie - I'm not saying that at all. I merely pointed out what experts on European fauna say is true. The chances of the culprit being a weasel are about the same as the chances of the culprit being a member of a Satanic cult - i.e. virtually nil. The only animal of which I have any knowledge which has the manual dexterity to open a hutch door (implying a recognition of a couple of concepts like "door" and "closing mechanism"), the selectivity to attack only pet rabbits, the strength to rip off a rabbit's head, the wastefulness to leave all victims lying where they were killed, and the sillyness to drain the body of blood is a human being. Not a member of a cult, note, just any old stupid human being with a particularly sick mind (and I think the recent Guisborough incident might support that).

So yes - if you asked about your rabbits or chickens and the circumstances were similar (and I sincerely hope you never find yourself in that situation), I would certainly suggest to you that your time would be better spent examining your neighbours than searching for an animal to blame.

Although setting the right kind of trap would catch either . . . .

She's a 74 year-old woman. She probably forgot to shut the door. Heck, I'm half that age and I forget stuff all the time!

So, to me, the most likely scenario is the lady forgot to shut up the hutch, or the grandies didn't shut it after them, and the weasel/stone marten/mustelid of your choice got in and killed the bunny. Then all the other people, whose cages were insecure in some way (weasels can get into mouse-sized holes, so if your wire isn't close enough...) said "me too!"

Did anyone find the link between this and Kosher/Halal killing? Seems pretty tenuous to me...

Thank you. The point being slaughtering bulls by a Matadors is seen as being out of order and should be banned, BUT... if you do that then you HAVE to apply it to all the cruel methods of slaughter. Truth is, there is no nice way to kill something, if there is let me know and I'll step forward to be on the receiving end.

Correct, as I was just off to San Fermin (the Bull Run) in Pamploma, being described as sick and that I should be excluded from society (by a moderator) I thought I'd leave something for you fine and good people to chew on while I was away.
