Places to visit/do in Cornwall...?
Re: Places to visit/do in Cornwall...?
my favourite beach in Cornwall is a small one called Trebarwith Strand - it's about 3 miles from Tintagel. We've stayed there every year for the past 7. It's beautiful at sunset and great if you're a surfer...........
Have a wonderful time! I was there on the day of the Boscastle floods, so the place has a mixture of memories for me, but apparently it;s all rebuilt now and they've taken on some board some very 'green' principles due to what they learnt on that day........

The Lost Gardens of Trebah are great - but take your own sarnies cos the tea room costs a bit. Believe that there is a good walk out that gets you nearly to Mousehole there too if I remember right.
The tearoom at Trebah gardens used to be great but not been for years. You can walk down through Trebah to a secluded bit of beach right at the bottom (of course you are not scared of walking back up big hills as you are going to Cornwall are you
).
Both places will keep you busy for a whole day.

It's been a long time since I was in Cornwall - is the outdoor amphitheatre at Porthcurno still there? I have very happy memories of going there to watch A Midsummer Nights Dream. The beach there is beautiful as well.
I've stayed in various campsites but I think the most beautiful was on top of a cliff overlooking Carbis Bay (St Ives). We spent a night watching a thunderstorm out at sea through the tent flap - phenomenal. Oh and while you're there you have to have real cornish ice cream at that really famous shop (can't remember the name) on the harbour in St Ives (OK I have too have one).

How about Goonhilly satellite station?...fascinating.
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Hi all,
Thanks very much for your input - this is really useful.
Having checked the weather - it looks like it's going to be chucking it down in Cornwall all week - so...we've made the very difficult decision not to go this week in favour of going during our next week off at the beginning of September.
We aren't necessarily fair weather campers but it looks like there's going to be no respite from it at all. (If anyone posts at the end of the week to tell me it's been lovely - I'll just cry.
)
I'm absolutely gutted as there's some very good suggestions - so I'm going to bookmark this thread for trying again then.
Keep the suggestions coming though - you can never have too many options!
Thanks again everyone.

I loved St Micheal's mount, but if you go make sure you leave on time, we nearly got stuck and had very soggy shoes
