Ellie, my other cat, is more a stay-at-home type. She does venture out, if the weather is fine, but rarely beyond the confines of the garden!

... where you can bring your cat to work! Tigger is currently sitting on the desk next to my computer (have just managed to persuade her NOT to sit on the keyboard). OK, I'm on my coffee break, sort of (it's rather flexible during the night), but she also keeps me company in the lambing shed... Much to the bemusement of the ewes.

The Waikato (NZ) A&E department has a big old ginger cat that lounges around in the nurses station and occasionally goes for wander.
Last time we were there someone on crutches in the waiting room hobbled to the front doors to let him outside! lol
A great distraction for people who are in discomfort!

That is lovely ina...more people should have cats at work though, they keep mice away and they are a fantastic stress buster.... beats those fish at the doctors surgery anyday.
I'd imagine big offices would benefit most from having a friendly feline mooching around.

She's been spending the nights following me about, trying to persuade me to go home!Millymollymandy wrote:Does Tigger just wander round and turn up by your office? (I guess you don't actually 'take' her with you!). There are some benefits to living close to where you work - though you can't throw a sickie and go shopping very easily!
And Bonniegirl - that is so lovely, having a cat in an A&E department. However, can't imagine that happening in Britain. Good old Health and Safety would have a word or two to say about that.

I do have to say that, in the light of some of the places I've worked, a cat would have been a valuable addition to the management structure. Give Health and Safety to cats, that's what I say. I mean, can you imagine the effect of a complete jobsworth propounding the benefits of yet another H&S procedure only to have a cat look at him (it's always a him), flex its claws and then yawn and lick its paws?
Then the cat would standup and mooch out of the door, in search of something more interesting.MKG wrote:I do have to say that, in the light of some of the places I've worked, a cat would have been a valuable addition to the management structure. Brilliant! Did you get the job?mrsflibble wrote:The interview for my old job inviolved a cat. someone had dumped the poor thing that morning and the photo office was the only quiet place for it to go. I ended up with a cat on one shoulder, a cup of tea in my hand just chatting away about photoshop and my skills. best interview ever.
And yes, I agree, a cat in the management would help most places. They get their priorities right...
Last night she tried sitting on the keyboard again - probably though the best way to get my attention was sitting right in front of me. Some key she sat on started off an insistent bleeping - you should have seen her face!
