sitting back and enjoying the view

I planted out some of my larger, more hardenned off tomatoes this morning. So far I have 4 beefsteak and 2 cherry toms out there. I've got 2 more cherry toms and 4 vintage "lemon" yellow toms to come out when they're bigger. the beefsteak and cherry were bought in pre-grown tiny baby plant for from wilkinson, the lemon ones are all my own doing from seed.
I've got 2 grow bags with 4 holes in each + more for drainage on the bottom, and 1 large planter with space for 4 plants.

the chilllis have started flowering already so they need the outside and all the lovely bees who come to visit my garden, but will be brought in at night or in bad weather until I build myself a coldframe.

Lucky you - we have had frosts every night and snow within the last week! Anyway mine are only spindly little things that are just getting their 3rd sets of leaves, as they don't grow well on windowsills.

I won't be planting out my toms or chillis until the beginning of June because of the frost risk.

Tomatoes out??? Mine are about 2cm high - in a heated propagator, and they've been in there for weeks and weeks...

Mrs F... don't just take my word for it but I think that capsicums don't need polinating.... Oh I know there is a word for it.... self fertile or somat.... you might not have to put them oot in the cold...... and yes we have had hail every day since friday, the sun is shining but tis a bitter wind and still frost in the morning.

Goodness .....mine are not even above the soil yet!! And as for putting outside, well, we have had snow, heavy rain, and today thunder and heavy hailstones, plus last night a white frost. It just goes to show the difference in climate in our British Isles.

Well here are my toms that are getting ready to go into their permanent bed in the (unfinished) greenhouse - sown Feb 20th. They are about 2 feet high and you can just make out the first flowers. They are Maskotka, a bush variety from www.simpsonsseeds.co.uk - did really well last year when all others failed miserably for me.
I do heat my greenhouse (just to keep the frost out) but as you can see it is insulated with bubblewrap which makes a huge difference to the heating needed.

There's some courgettes against the side and Rocket and Coriander near the front.
The thin stick like plant against the side is a grapevine from Woolworths (for a £1!).

Not really, I just can't wait for the weather in the spring so mollycoddle the plants! I pack the greehouse with growing stuff to make it pay back the heating bills.

Knowing that you're not prone to making typos, would you care to explain this ?

Wow, what are you feeding those tomato plants?!

It's wonderful surveying serried rows of veg. From our bedroom I can see the garlic in the PT, this makes me insanely happy!
