Hey Tiger (oohh, words normally reserved for my hubby!) - it's not hard to get into NZ if you have a skill that is on their shortgage / priority list. And these days the skills they require are more trades than professions - gone are the days when all they want is I.T bods, you're just as likely to get in as a plumber, electrician, roofer, builder, HGV driver... so it's certainly worth a look. You will need to score the right amount of points so if you have a degree/trade diploma (BTEC etc), or 10 yrs work experience in the "right" field etc then that all helps - and being under 45 helps too altho they don't exclude older applicants.
BUT... don't come here thinking it's cheaper than the UK, it isn't. That's a very common misconception and one that's been the downfall of many immigrants. With salaries under a third of what you'd get in the UK for a comparable job, and interest rates at around 8 - 9%, foodstuffs pretty much on a par with UK etc etc amongst other considerations it's not the land of milk and honey - do alot of research! I used to moderate a forum on NZ immigration - PM me if you want info
Boots - yay, another coffee addict

if I could grow it here I would, but I have a feeling it's too dry here

and as for losing alot of what we currently have growing, I'm with you on that, I'm probably going to balls up a few of them but I'll learn by my mistakes as much as I will with my successes! I hope!!
