freecycle again

Post: # 81964Post mrsflibble »

slightly annoyed with ym local chapter. I'm on the mailing list so i get 1 email a day detailing everything which has been posted... but the problem is some things seem to go before i ever get a chance to see them. :angryfire:

Yup, I think it happens everywhere. I am 'in the application process' of setting up a new group, there is a moderators handbook that advises mods to avoid this happening - 24 hour rules, etc.

You could try to contact your group owner and see if they will set new rules, or ask them to remind everyone of the nature of freecycle, or something... keep it nice

god bless gmail. i searched through my email inbox to find where I'd been told off by a mod for posting twice in one day (old computer had a dickey fit and crashed, i thought post hadn't gone through when it had). woot.

what i got back from my email:

Hi,

Unfortunately we cannot enforce anything regarding who they decide to give the items to and when they decide to do so.

We do ask people to leave a reasonable amount of time so that those on daily digest have an opportunity to partake, but some people just want to get rid of things ASAP.

I will try to add a note about this in my next Admin message to the group.

Thanks for your comments, it does help me to make the group better.

Regards

my local group.. some of the posts have this on the bottom of the offer:
Fair Offer Policy: I agree to take a period of time to see what
responses I get before deciding who to give item(s) to. This gives
members on Daily Digest, or those who don't have continual access to
the Internet a fair chance to reply.
is a good idea
