our future
in our hands our future sits
the choosing we must do as one
no one is to be blamed
for our mistakes and failings of the past
that is all behind to be forgotten time to move on
the world turns time moves on.
can we as people change?
what was once most precious becomes
tomorrow's rubbish no longer needed
obsolete disposable
move on move on to the next great prize
never enough more is always needed
more is wanted more breeds the need for more
like diseased monsters we spiral out of control
nobody is satisfied
every body envious and jealous of others success
nobody is happy
is this to be our future?

A to the point summation of the terrible epidemic of "Affluenza" that seems to have swept our nation!!! How sad that the desire for glitz and glamour and more "stuff" has over taken more basic but more valuable ideals
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

I agree, Theres a few (it seems) of us trying to do what we feel is the right thing, and so many others taken over by the mad frenzy of consumerism.
Yes, I have a computer, but I don't NEED an iPod, or a laptop or an MP3 player.
Don't have a TV. Don't want one!
Fashion-Sally Ann Specials, and most everything is second hand around here, right down to the dishes we eat off.
Rick just had a conversation with his sister, she is a consumer-can't understand us.
Fine , so be it.
I won't trade, my life for anyone elses.

Hi
Just had the usual round of "what did you do over the Easter weekend?" conversations with my colleagues. Their replies, almost without exception were "went shopping". Mine was "painted the shed, cleaned the windows, planted some seeds, and visited friends". They all said "oh aren't you good - I don't have time to do that sort of thing" Then you can bet they'll all be moaning that they don't have any money at the end of the month.
