Hello from Lincolnshire...

Post: # 45749Post Lincolnshirelass »

Hi there!

Just wanted to introduce myself... I'm Annie, and I live just south of Lincoln in a little village.

I've been interested in green issues and trying to live a bit more gently for a couple of years now, and started growing food in my back garden last year.

This year is a change point for us, as my husband is building us a house this year (after 2 years of planning struggles). There is a very substantial amount of concrete involved, so it isn't as green as it could be (damn those planners!), but we are putting in rainwater harvesting, solar water heating and passive solar as well as stupidly vast amounts of insulation and biomass heating via woodstoves and backboilers. We were also very lucky to be able to buy the only plot to come up for sale in the village for *decades* and which also happens to be next to the village communal orchard and allotment plots. We've snagged a vegetable allotment and a tree allotment which I am waiting for a nice (non-rainy) spell of weather to be able to dig. Going to the allotment will happily be a matter of simply nipping next door for me when the house is finally finished! Yay!

I've been reading this forum for a while, and thought I really ought to join!

Anyway, I'm looking forwards to participating a bit!

Thanks to everyone at Selfsufficientish!

Annie

Hello Annie!

:welcomeish:

Wow you have been lucky with your building plot AND the allotment plot! What a great idea to have a communal orchard.

Looking forward to hearing all about the house build too.

I know I'm a bit late here, but welcome Annie,

I'm a yellowbelly myself, although in voluntary exile over the county border, & love to hear from others.

I'll be spending the next couple of days in Lincoln, so will return with my N Lincs accent refreshed.
