I have today e mailed my council and asked them if they use energy efficient lightbulbs in the street lighting.

I reminded them that a normal lightbulb produces heaps more co2 emissions than that of a energy saving one. i also pointed out that perhaps they could use some of the council tax to pay for them .after all we all pay far too much council tax don't we.

i will wait a response and let you know the outcome

Good idea, but I think the street lighting is sodium or some such, It is very cheap to run I think. They could turn it off for an hour, if practical, perhaps.
