World *Still* Mad <relief>
You may wondering what became of this blind driver who got a mention in another thread a few days ago.
Well you'll be pleased to know that his sentence included being banned from driving for three years and then being ordered to take an extended driving test.
Progressive sentencing at its best, I think you'll agree.

In other news alcoholics are being given 2 litres of cider and a bottle of vodka a day in a bid to halt their drinking. - Well it would not suprise me if the people dishing out that kind of sentance had this idea.

I'd like to be there when they ask him to read a licence plate from 30 yardsMuddypause wrote:

To be fair (and I'm reluctant to spoil a good story with facts), the requirement to take a test is a mandatory sentence - the judge had no choice but to impose it. I guess the point is that it's future-proof; ie. some miracle of modern science may someday enable a blind person to see again, and be eligible to apply for a driving licence. In this unlikely event, our hero is still banned and will need to take the extended test before he can legally drive.
