Drying Mint

Post: # 31760Post The Chili Monster »

I've got a load of mint that I'd like to dry. What's the best way to do this? I'm thinking tea, add to chocolate dishes ...
Any advice gratefully received.

I dry all my herbs by hanging them up in the kitchen. Tie a bit of string around some sprigs and tie the string to a handle on one of your cupboards or wherever is convienient.

Mint needs to be dried cool or all the flavour goes, so go for good air flow rather than heat. Andy's advice is top-notch.

this is what a friend told me she does with mint - chop the mint up - pile into a jar, add a layer of golden syrup, seal jar. The syrup squishes the mint down, pushes out all the air and it keeps. I'm trying it for thefirst time this year, so not much experience - but have eaten my friend's food with this mint in it and it was yum - so guess it works. course its only good for dishes that would also have been sweet...
