I ate carp for the first time last night (Purchased from the Biggs's in Bantry no less Tony)
Though very bony, the flavour was great as was the texture
It has reinvigorated my plans to raise carp in the pond

Oh for goodness sake, what did you have to tell me that for?
Now I shall be thinking of converting my hydroponics into aquaponics every time I'm in the greenhouse, especially if you find a source of fingerlings.
Nice to know though Doofa, might call in and get some to try.

Re: Carp
I was looking at this some time ago, they used to raise carp in Medieval times in shallow pools, the cattle would be allowed to tread in the pools and manure them thus providing something for the carp to feed on when the pool was filled with water again, I think they had a series of pools and a cleaner one to take out the muddy flavour. I quite fancied having a pond with brown trout

Re: Carp
I have carp at the neighbours' house. They gave me some very crispy once in spring and I said it was nice, and it was better than I thought it would be. Unfortunately they give me it every time I'm around there (don't eat meat) and not usually so crispy so I end up playing with it. Not my carp of tea.
OH taking them to the market today ahead of a new year meal....will know if they bought a live carp for then......oh dear. It really doesn't help when the food is cold and claggy as well.
