This is getting silly.
Had to go to Cork today and not only don't I like these temperatures, neither do the roads as they are melting. There are long sections where the roads have had to be gritted (or sanded to be precise, but that conjures up a whole different process) with many places they haven't got to yet featuring ruts and potholes being made by cars getting large portions of road stuck to their tyres.
Temperatures over 29c and Ireland don't mix, it ain't natural.

It is so hot here in Leitrim, you can't do a single thing, the polytunnels are so scorching the thermometers are off the scale, I was out there at 6.30 this morning trying to do a little bit, but it is now gone 8.00 pm and it is still boiling hot, too hot to plant things out at the moment so they are still in the shady frame being watered every day, OH decided to lay a concrete slab and they had to call a halt today because it became unbearable to work any longer........ but I guess we will be moaning again when the rain is lashing down, we're just never happy

At least it gives us something to talk about.
I am having the same problem now.
If I want fried leeks in the winter I will have to look after them at home. If I plant them at the Lotty they will fry in the holes , depriving me of my favourite winter veg. I can see veg prices been astronomical later in the year as the farmers are suffering too, after the late and wet spring this hot and dry spell!
I see its getting hotter here in the midlands next week!

Yeah, I'm spending about an hour and half watering, every other day... Still, the sweetcorn seems to be loving it.

Yes, I'd rather give the sweetcorn and pumpkins a good soaking every two to three days rather than a light sprinkle of water which just evaporates in the heat. I try to water late evening when it has cooled down a bit.

Doing night shifts in the garden at the moment, 10pm to 1am, one of the perks of being old and living alone.
