North West Ireland, for a change, the last few days - scorchio
Re: Bloody, Bloody, Weather
Yes, here too, in fact I wish it would actually rain for a couple of days.
We have had one rainy night in the past 5 weeks and now my spring is down to a trickle, so it looks like I will have to switch over to the disgusting tasting bore hole water before the weekend.
Of course when it does rain it will forget to stop and I will be complaining about that too.

Gardeners... It doesn't matter what the weather does, we'll find some way to complain about it.
Cheers

Yes you are right we will always complain about the weather. At least it gives us something to chat about.
It looks fairly settled round here for the next few weeks so I have no excuse for not catching up on a few gardening jobs. I must be careful to keep it fairly light as the last thing I want to do is over do it and have to rest completely.

Thunder, lightning & hail over night; I've yet to summon up the courage to go and see what it did to the vegetable garden, but I don't suppose it has done a great deal of good. Still, it is relatively warm at last (great conditions for growing blight) and at least I don't have to do much in the in the way of watering

OKKKKAAAYYYYY.... so about half of the tomato plants are smashed and other stuff is damaged. The forecast is shit. Some of the fields around here look as though they've been strimmed with the sunflowers & maize particularly badly hit - talking in terms of a complete loss for some people locally.

It must have been a really bad storm. Hope you can manage to save some of your stuff.

Looks as if this year is going to be really hard for so many farmers and growers. The grass still isn't growing here, crops are still very slow to grow, temperatures haywire, went to buy a couple of bales of hay for the paca's and there is none to be had. So sorry to hear of the devastation where you are Jon, it is so hard when this is what you rely on for your livelihood, desk jockeys can never understand the problems facing people in the countryside.

It's worse for the growers, true enough. But it's not great running a tourist business in an area reputed for its superb climate when the climate decides not to play ball. The bloody rain won't stop, it's really quite cold and to cap it all one of the septic tanks has blocked pushing raw sewage up through the shower. Not having a good week. I don't often get downcast, but I am right now.diggernotdreamer wrote:So sorry to hear of the devastation where you are Jon, it is so hard when this is what you rely on for your livelihood, desk jockeys can never understand the problems facing people in the countryside.

Sun forecast for the foreseeable. Thank God! I have done what I can to repair my battered tomato patch and am now living in hope of getting at least something from it.

Re: Bloody, Bloody, Weather
U have to take the forecasts with a pinch of salt . I thought we were going to have a bit of settled weather for a couple of weeks. In that case why did I get soaked this afternoon strolling to the village . Never mind it might help the weeds come out easier tomorow.
I will look at the weather forecast now for the next couple of weeks but I won't believe a word they say. Happy weeding and planting and harvesting everybody.

Re: Bloody, Bloody, Weather
Right . Warm and cloudy for the next few days, getting warmer but more humid after that.
Better get planting and sowing.
Properly need to keep a eye out for potato blight too as ideal conditions are on the way.
