What are you reading?

I've almost finished Hemingway's 'Farewell To Arms'. I have become a bit of a Hemingway convert, I'm looking forward to reading some more. Before that I read 'All Quiet On The Western Front', which is one of the most heartbreakingly moving books I've ever read.

I'm just starting Hemingway's 'For Whom The Bell Tolls', having just finished Wouk's 'The Caine Mutiny'.

OKay, well I have just finished "The 100year Old Man who climbed out of a Window and Disappeared". NOT a literary read but amusing and sort of enlightening / revising about world events. And it only cost me 20p to download on my Kindle. Not sure what next read will be but want a book this time...so will be the library or charity shops.

I've been working through the Song of Ice and Fire at the behest of my other half; she knows me well, I enjoy them!

I am currently reading Excession by Ian M Banks though. One of his Culture novels, it's OK but I can't say it's my favourite, a little disjointed even by space opera normality.

I'm afraid I always ever read only Scandinavian crime novels! Especially Henning Mankell's Wallander series. I don't like violent deaths particularly, but in books it is not nearly as bad as on the telly.
They must have human interest at their core. After Mankell come Arnaldur Indriðason (Iceland) and Håkon Nesser (Sweden again). It is definitely an advantage if the weather there is worse than here.
Sjöwall and Wahlöö, creators of Martin Beck, I read when I was still in my twenties, quite a while ago ..... I think they gave me the taste.

I am right in "The story of England" by Christopher Hibbert. Really great easy reading about... Well, the story of England and Great Britain.
