Hello folks from sunny, hot and dry NI
Just joined the forum after I got the details from booze for free, excellent book. Started homebrewing several months ago hence my user name that I use on HB forums that I have joined. I like cider so of course was on the lookout for apples, sourced some and also got a lot of cherries so am bitten by growing things for use now. Will be planting just the one Apple tree as don't have any room yet for more. However I have found a space in the back garden for a decent sized greenhouse. Just have to tell the good lady but that can wait nearer the time or when its done.

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hello!! We're avid homebrewers too, used to make cider in the UK but our orchard is in its infancy over here so we're making do with lots of types of wine....its a hard life!!

Thanks all,
hi Potter's Farm
I can't wait until I get my tree planted and my greenhouse next year. I thought down south would have been more expensive than across the water to go self sufficient as I am from down there originally and things seem to be quite tight there but you sound to be doing well in wexford. Making some fruit wine at the mo don't have any brews on though.

Nah, SI can be anarchic, as you know! It's one of its endearing qualities (or, should I say, one of the peoples' endearing qualities). If you're motivated and have an acre or so, you can almost 'opt out'.big brew ejit wrote:I thought down south would have been more expensive than across the water to go self sufficient as I am from down there originally and things seem to be quite tight there but you sound to be doing well in wexford.
Good luck and welcome anyways, BBE!

I only have a small back garden so will have to make do with planting 3 or 4 fruit trees and a small polytunnel. What I would give for an acre or three
