Yeast'n'Things

Post: # 243680Post jazzmini1959 »

Hope somebody out there can help ! I need yeast to make apple wine but in my brewing box of tricks, I have found some yeast nutrient and some super yeast wine compound. Will either of these do instead ?

Cheers ...

Your super yeast wine compound IS wine yeast (mixed with a bit bit of wine nutrient). However, as you've obviously forgotten about it, I suspect it may be a bit old. It may still be viable, though.

You can test it by stirring a level teaspoon into some tepid water with a spoonful of sugar and leaving it for a while. If you haven't seen any activity in 24 hours, then you need new yeast. (Activity can be anything from a full-blown froth to merely little bits going up and down in the liquid).
