Growing potatoes

Post: # 227081Post KK21 »

My seed potatoes have arrived, so I'll put them in the greenhouse to chit now. These are my first potatoes for over 30 years.

However, I vaguely remember a practice used in the 1970's for increasing the crop, which was something like ..

Before planting potatoes (or maybe it was before chitting them) the tubers would be soaked in a double strength liquid feed for 24hous.

Does this work ?

What are the exact details ?

Many thanks

I've never heard of that, but will look on with interest. We don't grow many spuds, just a few in sacks, but it would be good to increase the yield a bit.

Apparently soaking in seaweed liquid fertilizer speeds chitting
