Hi,
I'm a bit slow here. What's a 'tuber'?

Thanks,
Chuck

That's the potato, Chuck. 1 potato = one tuber.

Failing that, it's a badly-spelled brass instrument. We'll go for the potato, I think.

I have tried this twice and got really poor yields both times.

Not a problem except for the time/money spent on filling with compost/soil :(

First time I used 100% compost and each spud probably cost me £3!!!

The thing is a lot of people just leave the tats to themselves in pots or bins just like leaving them in theground but in the ground they get the water and feed that they need wherein a container they are reliant on the grower to feed and water them much like dogs....

Treat them as a pet and they will flourish and grow well for you... all say Ahhhh....

Aaaah!

Well have been lucky enough to be getting a caouple each of a few varieties leftover from a local potato day so am going to give it a go with the grow bags.

What do you feed them with/ how often? I mostly just use homemade nettle fertiliser but plus some tomoto feed for fruit and veggies. Would either of these be any good?

Thanks, Jill

I never feed my spuds with anything  Which is probably why I always get such a poor crop.

Just as well I'm not a spud lover, eh? Now if anyone can tell me how to grow rice in the north of Scotland...........

Well it won't strictly speaking make it grow, but if it's just a growing EFFECT your after, you could try a microscope

So sorry, I don't know what's got into me tonight

Our spuds update!

We have 4 to 5 potato plants growing in each of the two 20 gallon containers. The plants are about 3" high and starting to spread out. Leaves look great.

However, I don't have the heart to cover the plants with dirt. =) I'll leave them be.

Regards,
Chuck
