hey from scotland

Post: # 22276Post bazil »

hi all......im living in the west of scotland...having lived in sunny oxford for the past five years

im into the whole self sufficiency thing in spirit but not in practice at the moment

i have big issues with the forign policies of the uk of late....i dont like the idea of my tax money being spent on nukes etc

thinking on moving to ireland(its close to home...and they speak english at least as badly as i do!)

just got a new book....FOOD FROM THE WILD by ian burrows

ive only had a wee flick so far...but from wot i can see...its a bumper..
i like the idea of shopping in the woods!.....for free!!

Hi Bazil, and a welcome from the other side of Scotland!

(You weren't at Scotsheep yesterday, by any chance? You would have seen one of us with a selfsufficientish t-shirt... )

Love your avatar - must be the great Scottish meat pie in the centre!

I suppose you are wallowing in wild garlic at the mo, too - everybody else up here is, only it doesn't seem to grow in my little glen here...

Hi Bazil

Welcome

That book sounds great - it would be great to hear more about what you think of it once you've had a proper read.

ok.....so ive read the food from the wild a bit more.....its not too bad....and a good starting point...but it could do with a bit more on idetifying things and how to preserve stuff(and cookery)
might buy food for free soon(apparently the listing style is seasonal which should help a bit)

ps....my avatar is the famous all seeing pie
