Hi All
My husband and I live in a village about 50kms from a large town. We have 1/4 acre and grow veges on occasion - too wet at the moment - we are in Queensland but well away from our horrendous floods, have fruit trees and currently a heap of chooks. I love to spin, knit & sew. I have an ulterior motive for joining your group even though I have read it quite a few times before.
My daughter and her hubby are off to Scotland for 3 weeks in March to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. We are babysitting their 5 children. I was wondering if anyone from Scotland would like to message me so I could ask some questions re cheaper car rentals firms and what's the best type of accommodation etc available - stuff that only a local would know. They are spending time searching some cemetaries for family graves in Glasgow I think and then wanting to head further north.
Hope someone would like to make contact.
Best wishes to all the self sufficientish type people. We are a great bunch :)
PS If anyone wants Aussie info I would only be too happy to help

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hi Trishelle, welcome to Ish
Although I live in Scotland I'm only a fairly recent incomer so I'm not very knowledgeable about rentals and stuff but Visit Scotland (what was the Scottish tourist board) were always a good place to start when looking for things to do and see and places to stay.
BTW, my cousin, Trish, lives somewhere in Queensland....... wouldn't it be a strange coincidence if......

Re: Hello from Australia & needing info from Scotland :)
Thank you for the welcome people. I would love to be related to someone who lives in Scotland Maggie but alas that is not the case. My son-in-law is the one with Scottish relatives.
I received a PM this morning but apparently can not answer it as I am only a new member and have to participate more. "M" could you send me your email address via PM and I will answer you that way. Hope this is allowed as I'm not sure how things work here. A cloudy and cool ( for me anyway) Monday morning here at the moment - currently 5:30 am so will check in when I return from town tonight.
Reread my first post and realised I wrote "chooks" I think that is only an Aussie term. We have chickens :) Bye all

Hello Trishelle
. I'm sorry but I can't help you with the car hire or accommodation for the Glasgow area as we live in Orkney and never use either for that area. As said before, Visit Scotland web site and using Google is your best bet (don't know if we have any -ishers in that area). Good luck and hope you all get sorted
.
Life's a bitch and then you diet.
