Hi there.
I just stumbled on this site while searching for some more info on a couple of old demijohns that I bought today.
A search for ''ayelense'' and ''viresa'' glassware came up with a link to this site.
I have an interest in making my own fruit-wines,and this site seems to hold all that precious info, and a lot more.... :study:

I'm Frank,known as scrap by most E-people.
I'm 38 years old,married.
I live and work in the Netherlands as a sheet-metal worker.
We mostly produce custom-made suction hoods for restaurants and hotel kitchens all over the Netherlands, and my specialty is making the fan-housings and ducts.
(I put the ''suck'' in the suction-hoods.)
I have an interest in growing the forgotten vegetables and fruits, cooking with lots of fresh herbs,
and learning more about home brewing fruit wines.
Looks like I found the right place. :pirate:

Cheers,
Scrap

Thanks for the warm welcome, y'all.
I've been digging trough this site a lot lately, and the info on winemaking is very usefull.
I truly love the no-nonsense way of explaining the process in ''Winemaking 1+2+3''

So yesterday I ordered some additional supplies at Brouwmarkt.nl,mostly stops, airlocks and two interesting strains of yeast.
One promised it would do the job at pretty low temperatures,so that would be ideal this autumn.
I can set up the whole smelly contraption in my shed.
The other said (well, yeast can't talk...but alcohol can in my experience :drunken: ) it had a high tolerance to alcohol so it could potentially produce fruit wines up to 16%.
Imagine that...but we'll just have to wait and see.

I'll probably start up my first brewski two weeks from now,I'm heading for the Belgian Ardennes coming friday.
Just me and the missus and a rented log-cabin in the middle of nowhere on the edge of the French border....
Hmmm...affordable quality Calvados and Confit de Canard.
