Mint Tea. Freeze chopped in ice cubes. Add to peas, Dave loves minted peas or any other veg really. Infuse leaves in oil or vinegar. Use in soups or stuffings. Add some to your bath water, makes a refreshing bath. In potpourrie and herb bags.

Mint jelly to go with lamb. You are so lucky because my useless housesitters didn't seem to realise that outdoor plants in pots need watering
despite this being in their instructions of things to do. They killed one mint by not watering and the others were so dry they are really stunted and woody so no chance of even using it in cooking/salads. Bloody useless people! But hell she did arrive in high heels (even though they KNEW they were coming to a rural place with chooks and ducks and a 1 hectare garden) and left in lovely gold lame wedge heeled mules.

Re: Abundance of mint any ideas what to do with it
i got some mint seeds in a kit but the mint is really not very strong and has a small leaf. I must take a photo of it. Loads of it in the one pot too.
I didn't know you COULD kill mint - but perhaps it went into shock at the footwear.
I love the idea of chucking some in the bath.

I'm also intrigued by Benner's idea! Has anyone tried it?

Back to my poor mint, I think I will divide it as I think it grows better that way than leaving it in the same pot (even though they are quite big pots). I'd planned on making my own mint jelly as I have to get people to bring it over for me from England.

Re: Abundance of mint any ideas what to do with it
I just dry it out and stick it in a jar - saves buying dried mint in the winter. I'm not keen on mint sauce with lamb or minted veg but in raita - heaven.

My Dad usually dries everything and gives it away as peppermint tea! It's gorgeous. We have planted our own peppermint this year because I only got one Jar last year and it was gone so quick!
During the summer months I highly recommend using the fresh peppermint for Mojitos! They're easy enough to do (all you need are limes, brown sugar, mint, rum and a bit of Soda water or sparkling water) They are absolutely gorgeous!

That's the same problem we had with our mint seeds, but then we kinda cheated and bought some potted mint in the supermarket and planted it in the garden....it's the only thing in our new bed so far and it's slowly starting to take over :)Shirley wrote:i got some mint seeds in a kit but the mint is really not very strong and has a small leaf.
