Yes and quite effective too!
In y5/6 Science lessons I have had the children build similar but smaller device from the same materials. Ambient temperatures of 15C can be boosted to above 65C in less than twenty minutes. In one case the plastic mount of the thermometer we used actually melted at the top of the box. Convinced the kids about the value of solar power!

yeah i have, im trying to brush up on my french so use it every now and again to see how it translates, im working through old gcse texts and have no access to a french speaker who can check things over so i rely on the internet to help me out, along with a mountain of text books!
it does make me laugh but then english is a pretty complex language so things dont always work out how they should!
its helpful when you use forums that are used by non-english speakers, you get the gist of what they are saying.
