Growing Oyster mushrooms

Post: # 196269Post JeremyinCzechRep »

At my local garden centre (in the Czech Republic) they sell bags of damp straw which has been inoculated with oyster mushroom spores. You leave the bag until the straw turns white (with mycellium) then make slits in the bag, through which the oyster mushrooms grow. I got a modest batch last year - and am hoping to use the old straw to inoculate new bags of straw (that will cost pennies rather than £3). Has anyone else done this? I'd be very interested to hear from others before I make too many mistakes.
