extra bits in magazines
I went down the shop today and bought my monthly magazine (grow your own) wich i really enjoy, but i get really aggravated with all the extra bits of paper and adverts they slide in the cover, how much paper this must waste and how many trees are coming down for this rubbish plus the plastic cover they cover it with to stop the rubbish falling out
, now inside the magazine they go on about recycling and the enviroment
but the most embaressing thing is i am advocating this by buying the magazine how the hell can you do right

Respect to all, be kind to all and you shall reap what you sow.

omg snapdragon that's such a good idea. I put pizza menus in the paid-for self-addressed evelopes sent out by companies cold-calling me with their services. hey, they've already paid the postage, right? why not use it?!
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

Re: extra bits in magazines
the only reason they are loose is because it is cheaper to print a flyer and shove it in rather than to buy an advertising space in the mag its self.
i used to work in a news agents and the amount of those bloody things that fell out when i was re-stocking the racks was ridiculous!
i also post all the junk mail back in the envelopes they provide. i had one from a particular doorstop lending company! and i jotted down a little note explaining i did not wish to receive mailings from them as i thought there interest rates were extortionate and that it was down right disgusting to target areas where the average income is so low these offers seem tempting when in desperate need.
i had an apology back and no more mailings.

If the mag is not encased in plastic then I tip all the extra bits out in the aisle and then leave them on the shelf for the shop to deal with. My nearest Asda has i bin in the magazine aisle for everyone to dump the ads in.

It bugs me so much. I wouldn't mind so much if it was compostible but it's glossy shiny stuff I can't do ANYTHING with... and like the original post said, the inside is filled with composting tips and how to reduce rubbish articles! I know the mag needs to pay for it's distribution, but you'd think they'd make it mandatory recyclable ads or something, geeze.
