My fiancee and I have picked a lovely place near his family's farm to get married. It's well priced, in a resort area, by the sea and in a garden. So what I'm trying to say is: most of the details are covered. It's the rest I need to ish.
Main thing: The place we're getting married charges a $200 rental fee for a red carpet and a trellace arc to get married under. Ergh, really? I know it might cost barely any less and I won't get a red carpet (tacky) but I was thinking of making the trellace myself from wood from the scrapyard. After the wedding, my parter and I could put it on the family farm and setup some passionfruits under it. That way when people pick passionfruits off our trellace, we can recall how we got married under it and I made it myself for the wedding. Romantic?
Another thing: I want to hand-make my guests' gifts. The theme of our wedding is musical notes. We picked the song 'Where do I begin' by Gloria Gaynor. We're making a very large metal frame with musical notes from a line from the song to put in our hall with our wedding photos when they're ready, so we were thinking of making metal musical note frames (but only like 4cm high) for the guests. Is that a good idea? He gets the steel free from the scraps behind the workshop he works at, so it would be recycling AND handmade AND free!
What else could I do to make my wedding as well-priced and homegrown at the same time? I'm almost tempting to scrap the whole location wedding and just get married on the family farm! Beer and pizza after

I swear I had ideas to Ish this more, but I can't think of any now.

(oooo, could I make my own booze for the wedding?? I mean, could I???)
