A quick rug

Post: # 180946Post snapdragon »

well quick ish, it's taken a few days - the pattern was a free one from Drops Designs Garnstudio  (google them to get loads of free knitting and crochet patterns)
and the wool (rugwool) was a huge load of it, many kilogrammes from ebay (a company I've bought fleece from in the past).
I reckon the wool cost what i could buy a rug for - and will make dozens. The next project is started and will be a woolie curtain to keep the bathroom warm
Image pic is on facebook not sure if it will show properly
I intend making one in darker colours and felting it to make a hearth rug.
The wool(wool/nylon mix) comes in Huge hanks and I'm winding it off (slow process) may need to put some in the swapshop

It's just trebles and chains - nothing fancy - used the pattern as a start point as I hadn't seen how to do the zigzags (inspiration was the second hand shop offcut of fabric I used for the sofa back cushions)
Decided I had to crochet something as my shoulder had got seized up with knitting and wool winding and crochet helps. :dontknow:
pattern goes :
Loosely make 114 or 142 chain with hook that fits your wool
Row 1: 1 tr in 4th ch from needle (= 2 tr), 1 tr in each of the next 10 ch, *skip 4 ch, 1 tr in each of the next 12 ch, 3 ch, 1 tr in each of the next 12 ch*, repeat from *-* a total of 3-4 times, skip 4 ch and finish with 1 tr in each of the last 12 ch = 96-120 tr.
Row 2: 3 ch, 1 tr in first tr, 2 tr in next tr, 1 tr in each of the next 8 tr, *skip 4 tr, 1 tr in each of the next 10 tr, 2 tr in ch-loop, 3 ch, 2 tr in ch-loop, 1 tr in each of the next 10 tr*, repeat from *-* a total of 3-4 times, skip 4 tr and finish with 1 tr in each of the next 8 tr and 2 tr in each of the last 2 tr = 96-120 tr.
Repeat Row 2 Cut and fasten threads.

Baah!! cant seem to edit it - - 'cut and fasten threads' comes after 'as many rows as you want in whatever colours'
(the pattern had specific colours in different amounts of rows with hook size and yarn type)
