Our beetroot, radishes and turnips all seem to go woody ... any ideas?

Re: Woody vegetables
Hi Cochlear
It sounds to me that you need to take advanage of growing your own and eat them earlier. It's a real treat that we don't have to wait until they are shop size to pick and eat them....delicious.....Sow in succession for a long season....
cheers

I don't know about the others but radishes always go woody in summer - I think they don't like the heat. Best grown in spring and autumn.
