A Farm for the Future
I watched a programme on BBC2 last night. It's about peak oil and agriculture. It is well written, the filming is superb, and it asks really important questions.
Natural World, 2008-2009 - 14. A Farm for the Future

It's available to view until Tuesday 17th March.

No need for a question TGE - I think they are just letting us know that something good and worthwhile is on the goggle box
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Truly a superb programme - one of the best I've seen. Packed full of information and wonderful photography to boot.

Very interesting, and worring.
We and farmers can all do our bit but we are still stuck with the ostrich people who think everything will last for ever and it is all for them to use (like my neighbour )

Unfortunately you have to live in the UK to download programs with Iplayer (and ITV whatever it's called as well)
Very strange situation as we legally watch both BBC1 & BBC2 via Sky, although of course we don't pay the UK licence fee.
On the other hand we can download programs with 4oD on Channel 4.
Very odd.

Yes I have tried a few John, but none of them work, even the UK based ones.John Headstrong wrote:Odsox have you tried using a UK based proxy ?
The BBC's response is .......
Our Geo-IP technology system recognises IP addresses provided by UK-based internet service providers (ISPs).
If BBC iPlayer doesn't recognise your address, you must contact your ISP as they alone can register your address.
If your ISP has registered with the appropriate databases, our servers are updated on a regular basis so you will have to wait until the next refresh to gain access.

The programme's out there on a torrent if you want it.
Re: A Farm for the Future
Watched it with hubby on Sunday night and thought it was an excellent program! I don't know much about permaculture but it's definitely something I want to look into now. The forest gardens were amazing! And I was quite surprised how 'little' land they had to be self-sufficient, only 7 acres and they had more than they could harvest. I always thought you needed more land than that to survive.
Of course seven acres is still more than we can afford right now but it's something to aim for
